- First the clay is wedged to work out all of the air bubbles.
- The clay is then put on a wheel spinning at high speed to center it.
- The clay is then ready to start taking shape.
- The clay is hollowed and pulled upwards.
- The clay starts to thin and is smoothed out.
- The pot is shaped.
- The pot cleaned up and trimmed.
- After drying, the pot is bisque fired and layers of glaze are applied.
- The pots are then fired which causes the glaze to melt and turn into a glassy finish.
- The pots are pulled out of the kiln when they are red hot.
- The pots are placed in cans to cool.
- The rapid cooling causes a crackling effect in the glaze and bright colours are produced.
